Modafinil and Modalert are almost interchangeable drugs. The generic medication modafinil, also known by the brand name Modalert 200, is used to treat excessive daytime drowsiness brought on by disorders such as shift work disorder, narcolepsy, and sleep apnea. The active component in both modafinil and modalert is the same, they both function similarly to encourage wakefulness, and their side effects and effectiveness are comparable. The primary distinction is that modafinil may be sold under a number of generic names, whereas modalert is a branded variant that is frequently offered at a lesser cost. Both must be taken under a doctor's supervision.
