Hey all,
New here and kinda stressing. I’ve got a 6–7 month old female Caucasian Shepherd and lately she’s been getting super aggressive toward strangers. Even if someone just walks past the yard, she goes off—barking, pacing, hackles up. It’s intense. She’s great with family and people she knows, but anyone unfamiliar sets her off immediately.
I knew the breed could be protective, but I wasn’t ready for this level of intensity so young. I’ve tried gentle exposure, rewarding calm behavior, and making sure guests ignore her at first. Still, she stays in that alert, tense state for a while. I don’t want this to turn into something dangerous later on.
I’m not trying to “fix” her instincts—I just want to guide them in the right direction before it’s too late. If anyone’s raised one of these dogs, what worked for you?
