Sildenafil citrate is the active ingredient in Cenforce tablets. Erectile dysfunction can be treated with sildenafil citrate. Cenforce sildenafil is a member of the phosphodiesterase inhibitor type 5 (PDE5) class. By blocking the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors cause the blood vessels in the penis and lungs to expand. The breakdown inhibition of cGMP raises the activity of mediators of arterial dilatation in addition to nitric oxide.
