I'm relatively new to tennis and I've come across the term "deuce" quite often during matches. I understand it has something to do with the scoring system, but I'm still a bit unclear on its full meaning. Specifically, what is deuce in tennis?
From what I gather, it's when the score is tied at 40-40, but how exactly does it affect the game? Does it mean the player has to win two consecutive points to win the game, or is there another rule at play here?
