  • How do parents set up parental controls on Snapchat?

Snapchat itself has limited parental control options, but with the Saferloop Parental Control App, parents get more control. Saferloop allows monitoring the use of the app, limiting the screen time, and tracking the track of Snapchat frequency of use. Parents are not able to view specific messages due to privacy regulations, but they are able to monitor the activity levels and establish boundaries. It is an excellent option to monitor the use of Snapchat without violating the privacy of a teen. With saferloop, it is simpler to initiate discussions concerning online behavior as well.

To set up parental controls on Snapchat, parents must first create their own Snapchat account by downloading the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, signing up with their details, and creating a username. Next, they need to add their teen as a friend by searching for their teen’s username in the app’s search bar or scanning their Snapcode. From the parent’s profile, tap the gear icon to access Settings, scroll to “Privacy Controls,” and select “Family Center.” Send an invitation to the teen’s account, which the teen must accept via their Chat section by tapping “View Invite” and “Accept.” Once linked, parents can use Family Center to view their teen’s friend list, see who they’ve messaged in the past seven days (without reading message content), restrict sensitive content in Stories and Spotlight, and manage location-sharing settings, such as enabling “Ghost Mode” to hide the teen’s location.
