  • What is Crypto

Cryptocurrency is a type of digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security, making it difficult to counterfeit or double-spend. Unlike traditional currencies issued by governments (like dollars or euros), cryptocurrencies operate on decentralized networks based on blockchain technology—a distributed ledger that records all transactions across a network of computers. Bitcoin, launched in 2009, was the first cryptocurrency and remains the most well-known and valuable. Since then, thousands of alternative cryptocurrencies, or "altcoins," have been developed, each with its own unique features and use cases. Cryptocurrencies can be used for various purposes, including as a medium of exchange, a store of value, or as a part of decentralized finance (DeFi) systems, but they are also known for their volatility and the regulatory challenges they face.

Is Ledger a hot or cold wallet? I'm looking for a way to store my $15,000 worth of BTC at the current exchange rate. My understanding is that it's not worth it to store them on the exchange? Or is this a prejudice? I see a lot of videos on youtube that recommend ledger live. Do you use it?
